Carosello is a newly opened Italian eatery in Moonee Ponds. They serve up all the basics of pizzas and pastas as well as a few specialty dishes of their own.

The management group are responsible for the ever welcoming Pacinos Family Restaurant, so these guys know what they’re doing. However, the difference between the two is that Pacinos has more of a homey traditional feel whereas Carosello is more modern and hip. The décor is minimalistic with simple elegance.

Food options are extensive and prices are reasonable. Gotta try their tiramisu!

Antipasto $24 – Chef’s Selection of Cold Cuts, Appetizers and House Made Bread (above)

So many options with this antipasto platter. Loved the artichokes and parmesan. Their homemade bread went well with all the appetizers. Great to nibble at over talks and drinks. 6.5/10

Calamari Fritti $14 – Calamari Rings Crumbed and Flash Fried with White Truffle Aioli

Giant calamari rings covered by a light crispy batter. The calamari was tender and easy to eat, great with the creamy aioli. 7.5/10

Patate E Salsiccia $20 with Fior Di Latte, Pork Sausage, Potato, Garlic, Caramelised Onion, Rosemary

Interesting combination of ingredients. The potato added a nice creamy consistency to the pizza and the pork sausage was delicious. 7/10

Carosello Pizza $22 with Triveri Tomato, Fior Di Latte, Wild Mushrooms, Sopressa, Roasted Red Peppers, Ligurian Pitted Olives and Basil

Loved the pizza crust, it was nice and chewy. Generous amounts of topping and the fior di latte was delicious! 7.5/10

Boscaiola $24 with Pappardelle, Sausage, Peas, Porcini and Cream

One of my favourites of the night! The pappardelle was cooked al dente with just enough chewy consistency. Loved the combo of sausage, peas and cream. Perfect with the pappardelle type of pasta because it absorbs the sauce so well. 9/10

Selection of Desserts

The tiramisu was amazing. Made from a family old recipe passed down through the generations, this tiramisu is something definitely worth trying. 9/10

The sorbets were all delicious. Light, refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. 8. 5/10

The Nutella Lava Cake was rich and creamy without being too sickly sweet. Definite hints of Nutella flavour. Delicious when eaten warm. 8/10

The Crème Brulee was average, same with the cannoli.
