The Escort and Thief dined courtesy of Hochi Mama
Hochi Mama is a little hidden eatery that puts a modern twist on the traditional Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. The place itself is super hip and stylish with the wall to floor graffiti art and colourful cutlery. Everything feels bright and vibrant.
We came to try out their Yum Cha option which is available on weekends from 12-3pm.
Lots of good menu options with lots of new flavours to try. Loved their fried chicken!
Can’t really go wrong with prawn dumplings! Although these were fried, the dumpling skin still had a nice chewy texture. Loved Mama’s chilli soy sauce. 7.5/10
My favourite of the day! Chicken was juicy and well-seasoned and batter made it perfectly crispy. Great to snack on! 8/10
Had a surprising filling of tofu, bean sprouts and some sort of sweet coconut and ginger paste. This dish was more sweet than savoury and would’ve been better if it was a bit crispier. 6/10
Good concept and it was the first time I’ve had a duck and rice in taco combo. Duck was nice and tender but there wasn’t much flavouring except the mayo. 5/10
Love the idea of a matcha bun! Tofu was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and paired well with the mayo. The kimchi gave it all a nice spicy kick too. 6.5/10
Beautiful rice paper rolls! These rolls did have a bit too much sweet sauce and we couldn’t really taste the eggplant. 5/10
Super cute and colourful dessert! Loved each ingredient individually but less so as a whole. 6/10
