The Resident Cafe

246 High Street
Ashburton

Located right next to the Ashburton train station, The Resident Café is a popular brunch destination for the locals. It has a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you step in, and all the way to the back where you can dine outdoors. Coffees are awesome and food is decent. Would recommend if in the area.

Cappuccino $4
Latte $4

The coffees were beautiful and satisfying. Creamy and not bitter at all. No sugar needed 9/10

Eggplant & Haloumi $16 with Crispy Eggplant, Seared Haloumi, Miso Eggplant Puree, Fresh Herb Salad, Charred Broccolini, Pomegranate and Activated Winter Veg

A flavoursome dish, but not very filling. 7/10

Pea, Zucchini and Haloumi Fritters with Mixed Mushrooms, Pecorino, Paprika Pinenuts, Poached Egg and Smoked House Chilli Jam $18.50
Perfect yolk!

A decent dish, but just not very satisfying. Egg was poached perfectly and the fritters were good. Was still hungry after this dish. 6.5/10

Wagyu Beef Burger $19 with Instra Bacon, House Pickled Cucumber, Onion Jam, Cos Lettuce, Tomato, American Cheddar, Milk Bun, Beer Battered Chips and Company Mayo

Decent burger and chips. Bun was a bit on the dry side. 6.5/10

Cocoa Crepe $13.50 with Nutella Sauce, Fresh Berries and Honeycomb

Good value for crepes and it was a very pretty dish. Flavour was average though. 7/10
